Dr. John Withers, DVM - Veterinarian
John Withers grew up just down the road in Cost, Texas, and graduated from Gonzales High School. He still remains a resident of Cost, where he lives with his wife, Amber, and their two children Wyatt and Joni. In 2002, John joined the Shiner Animal Hospital team as a veterinarian assistant. He worked alongside the doctors for 3 years until deciding to pursue his veterinary degree at Oklahoma State University. While attending school, he continued working as a veterinary technician at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma, an equine only referral and surgery practice. While working, John was accepted into the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 - GO POKES! John received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in May of 2013. He is a member the American Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Texas Equine Veterinary Association, and the American Association of Equine Practitioners. Dr. Withers enjoys all facets of mixed animal veterinary practice, particularly equine work, including lameness, surgery and upper airway disorder diagnostics and treatment. In his spare time, he likes to golf, rope, work cattle, and spend time with his family.

Dr. Thomas Bays, DVM - Veterinarian
Tom Bays grew up in Maple Hill, Kansas. After high school graduation, he followed the Flint Hills to Manhattan, Kansas to pursue his education. Dr. Bays received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in 2004. Upon graduation, he decided to continue his education in the "little apple". In 2008, Tom received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University, EMAW! In the summer of 2008, Dr. Bays moved to Texas and began his practice at Shiner Animal Hospital. Since then, he has become a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, and the Society of Theriogenology. Dr. Bays married his wife Angela in September 2010. Outside of work, Tom enjoys running and spending time with his children Ryan, Eli and Agatha (Aggie). Dr. Bays is still an avid K-State Alumni, and waves his Wildcat flag proudly on game days.
